Below are some inclusion criteria for our program to give you an idea of what is required for IOP.
Though we are a teen IOP, we will accept children as young as 11 years old.
Adolescent has an active diagnosis that requires therapeutic interventions.
Adolescent is at risk to self or others due to suicidal ideation without active planning & intent or homicidal ideation without intent or active planning, risk-taking, self-endangering behavior, loss of impulse control, impaired judgment, or significant role failure/daily functioning which is not so severe that it requires 24 hour supervision, but does require intensive structure and supervision.
Adolescent is in a less restrictive level of care and experiencing an increase in symptoms resulting in decreased functioning at home, school, and/or in the community.
Adolescent is stepping down from a partial hospitalization program, residential program, or hospitalization.
Adolescent cannot be safely or effectively treated at a lower level of care. I.e. Needs more than once a week individual therapy.
Dialectal behavioral therapy (DBT) is a type of talking therapy that helps clients accept their realities while also promoting helpful life changes.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can help clients become aware of negative or inaccurate thinking patterns in order to respond to challenging situations more effectively.
The goal of interpersonal process therapy is to improve the quality of a client's interpersonal relationships and social functioning to help reduce their distress.
Creative expression activities help clients deal with emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, develop social skills, manage behavior, solve problems, reduce anxiety, aid in reality orientation, and increase self-esteem
Psychoeducation provides structured education about mental illness.
Action plans for coping with the holiday season.
Adolescent has primary and active diagnosis of substance abuse or conduct disorder, is using every day and unable to attend group sober.
Adolescent has aggressive behavior across multiple settings - home, school, community.
Adolescent is threatening or committing acts of violence towards peers.
Eating disorder has placed adolescent at medical risk and they are not medically stable.
In immediate crises like this, calling emergency services or PHP would be a better option.
Adolescent is actively engaging in potentially life threatening self-harm and is requiring medical attention. Emergency services should be called.
